There are three types of utility payments for an apartment

  1. Gas
  2. Electric
  3. Heating Oil

For Gas and Electric

The Best way to get hard numbers for gas and/or electric costs for a specific apartment is to call N-Star, the utility provider. The number for N-Star is 800-592-2000.

When you contact N-Star, give them the address of the apartment and they will give you the average highs and lows of the utility bill for the previous year’s energy use.

For Heating Oil

Heating Oil payment is hard to estimate. The way the payments work is that every time the fuel company comes out to refill the heating oil tank, you get billed. The frequency for refilling is obviously much higher in the colder months than in the warmer months.
